The few words at the beginning of your post can make a real difference in your online success. Headlines are the ‘most powerful words’ that would serve to attract your readers and aid them in deciding whether to read your post or just leave it. You must know that the titles/headlines of your posts appear in the RSS feeds; Search Engine Results; Social Networking Sites; and your archive pages.

You can use a variety of techniques to get traction and get the readers read the first line of your content (and simultaneously the entire post). But it isn’t essential that all the techniques work wonders for you! So, here I am listing a few of the techniques that I personally use while crafting the headlines, and which have helped me attract traction to my websites. You too can leverage these templates and see the difference:

1. Communicate some benefit

Start with something like “Who Would Want…?” this strategy communicates an immediate benefit for the reader and they feel compelled to check the entire post. This strategy usually rules the roost in the online blogosphere.

• Who Would Want To Earn Money While Blogging?
• Who Would Not Want To Attract Traffic?
• Who Wants to Magically Leverage the Power of Social Networking Sites?

2. Mention: The Secrets of …….

Now unveiling the secrets is yet another trap for your readers. Share the insider knowledge and offer a benefit to your reader. Create something like:

• Secrets of Successful Blogging
• Unveiling the Secret of Getting your Home Loan Approved

3. This is the Method That is Helping………

Again think of the benefits that your target audience can reap. Offer them a simple solution by just specifying one selected method for doing something. Like:

• This is the Method To Safeguard your credit card password
• This is How You can Save Thousands on Car Insurance
• This is the Method To make your Teenager learn Table Manners

4. Best Way to….

Often your readers aren’t just looking for methods; they are rather hunting for the BEST methods. So why not leverage their quest? Try this intriguing method of accomplishing your goals of increased traffic:

• Best Way to Draft Blog Posts
• Best Way to Hack Gmail Password
• Best Way to Lose Those Extra Pounds

5. Permanent Solution For …………

Now here you offer a permanent solution for some problems faced by your targeted audience. Use this method for targeting specific audience.

• Permanent Solution For Your Hair Fall
• Permanent Solution For Acne
• Permanent Solution For Sunburn during Summers

Additionally: Try to keep your titles or headlines as short and snappy as possible. This serves well for the readers as well as for the search engines (as the search engines just show 65 or so characters so; and your full title wouldn’t appear in the search results in case you go too long).
