A very popular desktop application for blog publishing; Windows Live Writer can be downloaded for free with Windows Live Essentials Pack. Windows writer allows a blogger to add pictures, videos, audios, format your blog and publish it to various blogging services.

Here is a quick overview of getting started with the Live Writer:

It is very easy writing blogs using Windows Writers and it also helps you synchronize your blog categories. You can refresh your categories either manually or use the automatic tool to update.

1. Refreshing categories manually in Windows Live Writer Blog account
This is easy. You can see “Set categories” option while writing a new post at the left panel. Click on that option and it will open up all the categories that you imported while installing Windows Writer blog account. Once you click this button then you can get these categories synchronized with your blog account. After setting it manually you will be prompted to log in your credentials to import the changed settings for you.

2. Enabling automatic blog account categories updating option thru Windows Live Writer Blog account setting.

In order to make the settings automatically and save yourself from the trouble of doing it manually you have to click on the menu bar, choose accounts Accounts Options Choose “Automatically update account information” select box.

Save and apply the changes and your settings are updated. This will make the necessary changes to your blog account.

If you are not able to see the changes automatically then it is recommended to go with the manual changes.
