What is AdSense
AdSense is an application that was started by Google Inc. This enables website owners to upload text, images and even video advertisements on their websites. These adverts are monitored by Google and generate income on a per click basis.
How does it work?
It is important to understand the concept behind the working of AdSense so that one can use it in an optimum manner.
Various website owners sign up with Google AdSense for free which enables them to put up advertisements on chosen websites. Most often these adverts are related to the content of the website. Whenever an ad is clicked on half the money generated goes to Google and the other half to the website owner. The payment is on a per click basis.
Advantages
There are many advantages to using AdSense. The adverts on the websites are much better than pop up sites or banners which usually irritate the user rather than pique their interest.
The adverts on the websites are relevant to the context of the website which increases the chances of users clicking on them. For instance a website featuring articles on electronics will have advertisements related to that like special offers on electronic goods, etc.
This is an easy and legitimate way to earn extra income and it doesn’t even require you to own a website. All you need to do is sign up with Google AdSense and create an account.
Do’s and Don’ts
It’s always important to get adverts that are related to your website content as this will result in more clicks.
Ensure that the content of the website is quality driven and appealing to the readers as the more the traffic on the website the more the chances of the adverts being clicked.
Don’t attempt to click on your own adverts. Google can find this out and ban your account.
Don’t place AdSense ads on a page without content. This defeats the entire purpose.
Don’t beg for clicks nor should you offer incentives for website readers if they click on your adverts.
It is essential to place the adverts where they can be prominently seen.
