There are some aspects that you need to consider seriously before you start on with your blog. Blogging is not as simple as writing a few essays for your college magazine or sending a few e-mails to those whom know you. Blogging is a process that requires commitment to the work you have undertaken to complete as well as a lot of passion to express yourself. Make no mistake – some opinion about what’s going on and the ability to churn out sentences in grammatically correct format are not enough to make you a successful blogger; there are more of them that reflect on your personality in creating and running a successful blog. Here are some prerequisites for making it big with your blog.

Passion: Do you really feel passionate about things? Do you feel the inherent drive to get things done? Do you have strong opinions about what interests you? Do you have a niche that you are an expert on? If the answer to these questions is a resounding “Yes”, you are quite likely to succeed in your blogging venture. And that’s just for starters.

Personality: Are you confident? Are you outspoken? Do you stand by what you say? Are you willing to commit yourself to a stance and be willing to face criticism? And, most importantly, are you ready to fail? It requires a degree of daring commitment to your causes and some ‘arrogance’ to counter life as it comes to really succeed in the long run, no matter what you venture into. If you are going to be bothered about every opinion voiced against you, you may not feel comfortable expressing yourself. If you are thick-skinned, it helps! Blogging is not for the weak-hearted; at least, successful blogging isn’t.

Time: Are you serious about the sort of time that you want to spend online? Do you think you can spare the time towards talking things that may not seem to give results in the immediate run? Are you already hard-pressed for time? If you do not have time, you may be better off reading blogs than writing for them.

Track Record: What’s your track record when it comes to finishing things that you take up? Do you go the full distance or do you feel tired half-way through? Do you get bored with things that do not seem to yield results in the short term? Blogging is a long-term business and there are hardly any over-night stars in here.
