Here are some few tips, if you are new to this blogging world.

1) Focus on Content

Your first aim should be to write good quality content and focused on the topic. Your main source of traffic is the content you write. It should be SEO optimised means write an article focusing on 2-4 keywords you are targeting. Use Good sub headings and bold important keywords / phrases. Your keywords should come inside the article at-least 2-4 times. Write a content which drives users attention and keeps him bounded till the end of the story. Trust me, he will come back again as well.

2) Focus on Meta Tags and Title

They might be time consuming, but do not neglect meta tags (keywords + description) and the meta title. Do not over stuff the meta keywords with lot of keywords. Write a good Meta description and your Meta title should be short based on the keywords you had optimised your content for. Don’t make your Title simply separated by keywords like  -

Seo Tips, SEO tips for Bloggers, Seo Tips for Webmasters

A better way to write this is

Seo Tips for Bloggers and Webmasters.

This not only drives user attention but it is also search engine friendly.

3) Internal Linking

Internally link to your posts and websites either from top/left navigation menu or bottom of article or from within the content. Links coming from within the content have more weightage than internal links from anywhere else. Link from the keywords you are targeting or relevant phrases.

4) Website Design

Don’t go with flashy websites or which are heavy in loading. Use simply Html or Div based websites and try to avoid heavy flash. A Website should load in few seconds otherwise the visitor will close it immediately. Choose good colours and make a good design and navigation structure.

5) Link Building

Do not indulge in any kind of one way linking, 2 way linking, 3 way or reciprocal linking. It is not going to benefit you at all. Write some good quality articles and submit them to good article websites such as Ezine articles, Article dashboard, Articles base,  etc.  Write good and relevant posts so that other websites link to you. Create Social accounts, popularise it using bookmarking and tweet at twitter.

6) Feed Subscription

Offer Email Feed Subscription to readers so that they can subscribe to your blogs. Promote your Feed using big feed buttons embedded in the design itself. You can even ask readers to subscribe to feed at the end of the article.

7) Encourage Commenting

I have 2 websites which have reached 40,000 Alexa rank simply because every page  comes on top of the search engine list. I no longer work on those website as they are daily updated with fresh comments and the traffic is growing every month. So write good topics. Encourage commenting on your blog or websites and if possible reply to any questions asked within comments. Google loves Fresh Content and Content updation, the more the comments, the more ranking you get.

8)Search for New Tools

Keep yourself updated with new plugins and their new versions. There are many plugins which you can use in the sidebars or after the end of the post to encourage visitor to read more topics or find some related ones. Also offer search buttons at right places in your websites.
