Making Money Online – How to Become a Successful Blogger?

Promoting one’s products or services or gaining traction online is an integral part of being successful online. There are numerous attempts at making money online by people who think it’s an easy way of making a living and even making a fortune. On the contrary, making money online is not as easy as it looks from the outside. Moreover, there are a lot of schemes out there that promise to help you make money online, but that’s just in theory – in practice, it takes a lot of hard work and determination to get close to making a mark and a name for yourself. How do people gain stature and grow in influence online?

People who have been successful online have had a way of proving their mettle, and creating a unique identity for themselves. Promoting oneself is as important as promoting a product or a service in the real world. It takes nothing short of clever marketing and consistent application of strategy to be successful online. A look at the most prominent personalities in the virtual world shows that most of them have a common trait and have followed some principles that have elevated them to their current positions. So, here are some tips at promoting yourself as a brand and gaining visibility in the virtual world, before you can think of making it big in the online world. Some of the common traits of successful people who have made a mark for themselves online are as follows:

1.       They are active in more than one blog: It is true that maintaining a blog takes time, energy, dedication and determination. You need to have your readers and you need to keep entertaining them or giving them something that they value in order to be a successful blogger. While maintaining a single blog takes determination and perseverance, it has been found that many of those who have created a brand for themselves online have more than one blog – and they have been active bloggers consistently over a period of time.

2.       They create a niche for themselves: There can not be many Jacks of All Trades. Many of those who are active online and who have been regular bloggers have stuck to their knitting. These are people who know what they are and what their specialisation is. They have had something to offer others in their own fields of action – and they have not tried to expand beyond their boundaries. However, they have become specialists in their own fields and have become known to the public as the people who can guide them in their chosen subjects.

3.       They are proactive and take the initiative: If you look at any of the prominent personalities online, you would see that they did not wait for someone to prod them, they did not wait for supervision and they were not reticent. Instead, they were outspoken about what they were, took the initiative and were active in approaching others. They knew that they had a part to play in online communities and they defined the way things happened, rather than waiting for things to happen. They had the energy and were self-starters.

4.       They are active in online forums: It is not that they stuck to their blogs and they kept talking for ever. They knew which the right platforms for them to promote themselves were and how they could launch their charm offensive there. Most of them were active in online communities, such as LinkedIn, FaceBook or Twitter and they managed to integrate all their avenues of online presence into one universal package.

5.       They genuinely care for others: Though their intentions could have been about making a mark in the virtual world and making money online, they cared about people whom they interacted with and about those who approached them for advice. They were genuinely interested in making sure the other person was out of trouble or got the solution that he was looking for. The pieces of advice that they offered had a sound knowledge backing and they were happy to help others.

It is these traits that have made people become popular online. In all of these tips, you may find that there has not been any emphasis on making money online or selling products in the internet. The focus has been on making sure that they gained the traction required and on the popularity that they could get out of all avenues that the internet offered. Then, their business clicked by itself and money flowed in.

It should be noted that most of the successful bloggers today are early adaptors and they managed to get on to the internet and social media world in the early days of its starting, even before social media and social networking sites gained any coverage in mainstream media. Having said that, the general public who are not among the early adapters are still getting to terms with the online communities and social media and as they learn the rope, the list of the most popular figures and the most successful online entrepreneurs would change. So, if you haven’t made it to the party yet, there is still time.
