Is Your Blog Competing With Anyone?
When you enter a business or join a new office, you would naturally be worried of one thing the most – your competition. Who is your immediate competitor? How well is he established? What’s your standing with regard to him? How do you fare in comparison with your competition? What are your strengths and weaknesses and how do they fare with his?
Relax. The reason you are here is to blog and blogs have a different way of working altogether. Nah, it’s not that blogs never face competition. It’s just that you do not need to be so paranoid about who’s going to eat you up even before you grow big. The internet is undergoing an explosion of sorts when it comes to blogs. People are discovering that they do not have to depend on the oligopolies of a few magazines and news papers to flaunt their writing skills anymore. Gone are the days when stories sent to magazines would religiously find their ways back to the sender, facing the inevitable rejection from the chief or the sub-editor.
With blogs, your space is virtually unlimited. I’m not talking of your storage space, but the scope for you to open your wings up and explore the breadth of the vast blue skies – all you have to do is to fly! As long as you can keep your articles coming in line with your chosen themes, as long as you can maintain a decent English with minimal spelling or grammatical errors and you can keep the momentum up and going with new topics and perspectives to your stories, there should be no reason why you have to be bothered about what the other blogger is doing.
It’s your own innovation that matters; it’s your spirit of entrepreneurship and sense of ownership to your blog that would make a difference. In effect, as long as you do not run out of ideas or lose all your energy to express yourself anymore, you have no competition to deal with. The cake is big – and everyone has a share in it!
