This is a very important post as i will disclose you how you can increase your adsense revenue with the same number of visitors. A little change in the layout and colors and increase your adsense revenue by 30-50%.

I have more than 40+ blogs and websites and i have tested various ad formats with different colors.

Here is the conclusion of 5 years of study -

First of all, it is very important that ad should be placed as per the design of the website. Don’t place ads in a manner that it spoils your website appearance or user’s interest in your website.

My first preference always goes with 336×280 or 300×250 layout with link title as #0000ff color and text color #000000 or gray as per your content color and url color #ffffff

This layout can be placed in either of the following locations -

1) Above the title

2) Below Title – In this pattern, there should be author name or date below the title and then a horizontal line. This is important otherwise google will remove ads from your website. As per Google Policy, ads cannot be placed below the title as they give a uer impression that the below ads are a part of the title. So there should be a 2nd line after title with some author name, date or comment count etc and then a line to differentiate between ads and title

3) Left aligned with the text - this has less CTR than above 2 positions.

The 2nd AdSense Position

The 2nd Adsense should be placed immediately below the content. As per my advice it should be 200×200 or 250×250 in black title with black text and white url. Normally if you see the the color of sub headings, it’s in black color, so black title ads below the content can produce good CTR.

Blue Color Title  (#0000ff) also words good here but if you place blue title ads here, it gives an impression that there are lot of ads on your page.

3rd AdSense Position –

The 3rd AdSense layout can be a vertical banner 160×600 or a 300×250 banner as per your website design.

I always prefer 160 x 600 banner to be placed in a column either left of content or right of content with some different colors like #0000cc , #000066 or pink, red, brown as per the title or theme color.

If you want to place a link unit, it can be placed below the top navigation bar.

Overall, such a layout gives me 4.5-8% CTR and a good eCPM.

I don’t recommend horizontal banner layouts – 728 x 90 and 468 x 60. Their CTR is much lower than 336 x 280 or 300 x 250 layouts.

Next, avoid images in your ads and use only text ads. It’s my experience that Text Ads generate more revenue than Image or Image/Text ads. So i use text & image combination below the content  ( for a 200 x 200 or 250 x 250 layout)

Your 3 Ads should have different channels if you want to see which channel is generating more revenue. The answer is normally above the content or title ad.

Making Ad title color Blue has increased my page revenue by 30-50% for some websites. It is a trend that blue color title is considered as a link and it is also very eye catchy. So it increases your CTR.

Further if your eCPM increases your revenue gets doubled. There is no fixed formula to increase your eCPM. It is high for high paying keywords, some important topics, supplements, technology site etc.

Use Google Search to add to your revenue amount.

Keep trying different formats. See it for 2-3 days and note your CTR. Then change the format or colors and notice change in CTR. You can really boost your adsense revenue if you get what’s right for your website.

3 Ads along with 1-2 Link Ads is sufficient for any page. Work on it and then let me know if this increases your Adsense revenue.
