As long as you are not blogging for the sake of blogging and if your blogs are not meant only for your near and dear ones, whom you would like to invite privately without the whole worldknowing that you and your blog ever existed, you definitely want traffic to flow to your web logs. I could recall a comment by a blogger who believed, a few years back when blogs were just catching on, that he could not think of a scenario where one could actually make a living by blogging. Then Google and Adsense became popular and the rest is not history but is very much happening!

Making not just money but a living on blogs is no longer a mere fantasy. When you are the boss of your own time and when you actually see that your inborn writing skills and wizardry with words are paying off handsomely, you would happily enroll in the “Blog Addicts’ Network”.

And when you set out to form your own blog with all the right intentions, the first thing that you need to do is to pick on a theme. A theme is what your blog is to revolve around, like the sun in our solar system. No matter what you write, how long you write, how much you write, your writings will have to revolve around the theme as if they are bound by the invisible force that holds it to the theme. All your posts will have to be shaded with the same color, but in different shades.

There is no secret about why your blog has to stick to a theme – apart from the very fact that your Theme is your identity. In effect, you have to become an effective marketer who could position his blog in a region that has not been explored extensively yet, or where there is scope for further discoveries and disclosures and where there is a firm and growing demand among thirsty readers. Remember, your blog is one drop in the vast ocean of cyberspace. If you do not position your blog at the outset, you are more likely to confuse readers who may land up in your space as to what you stand for. When you have run out of your own unique identity, you are lost in the ocean!

So, first thing first – choose your theme and position your blog. The rest will follow.
