Tumblr is a great micro blogging service and like other famous platforms as Blogger, wordpress.com and Posterous, it is also a free of charge website and does not require you to install any software on your server to access and use it.

The reason that makes Tumblr stand apart than rest of the blogging platforms is that it is extremely easy to use.  Posting a quote, link or a video is extremely simple and easy. Also it re-blog feature is a great way to share fun facts and things with your friends.

Tumblr is not as advanced as a hosted content management system as Drupal or WordPress but many new features have been added to it that includes reader submitted Q&A, pages and contributions.

Tumblr has also come up with theme customization options by adding new theme documentation feature and has also offered its new marketplace for premium tumblr themes.
